I grew up in Edgeworth, Malden. Markey’s neighborhood. I walked passed “his house” on Townsend street twice daily on my way to and from elementary school. I grew up in the same church.
I never remember ever seeing him in the neighborhood in all my years there. Never even a school visit. He went to immaculate not Emerson maybe that’s why? He is from ward 2 I can’t ever remember him at a ward 2 Fourth of July or at any of the Irish functions I attended in my lifetime.
Yes I’ve voted for him a lot. I’m a Democratic.
I wish he had mentored someone else. He’s smart as a whip and not presenting as the 80yr old man he is. I can’t and I won’t vote for someone that age. I’m tired of that generation’s inability to let go of the reigns. It’s starting to look disrespectful toward genX. Boomers don’t trust us enough to let us run the show
As a side note it’s weird to see him leaning into his malden-ness. I’m exactly from where he’s from and I’ve never seen him, ever. It annoys me when he says someone gets his Malden up.
Yes he’s from working class roots, which I respect but he grew up in 1950s Malden on the “nice” side of the city attending a parochial school. That world was gone. Even longer than the 80s and 90s Edgeworth I knew.
He very much Malden in name only.
